The Classification and Installation Steps of Jib Crane

Jun 26, 2023

Jib crane, also known as cantilever crane, is commonly used in industrial settings. Jib cranes are designed to lift and move materials from one location to another, making them an essential component of many manufacturing and construction processes. In this article, we will discuss the classification of jib cranes and the installation steps involved in setting them up.

Classification of Jib Cranes

Jib cranes can be classified based on their capacity, type of hoist, and the type of support structure:

1. Capacity. Jib cranes can be classified based on their capacity, which ranges from light-duty to heavy-duty. Light-duty jib cranes are used for smaller loads, while heavy-duty jib cranes are used for larger loads.

2. Type of Hoist. Jib cranes can be classified based on the type of hoist, which can either be a wire rope or chain hoist.

3. Type of Support Structure. Cantilever cranes can be classified based on the type of support structure, which can either be a free-standing or wall-mounted jib crane.

Installation Steps for Jib Cranes

1. Choose the Right Location. It is important to choose the right location for the cantilever crane, taking into consideration the height and width of the area, as well as the weight capacity of the crane.

2. Choose the Type of Jib Crane. Based on the requirements of the location, choose the type of jib crane that is best suited for the job.

3. Prepare the Base. If it is a free-standing installation, prepare the base for the cantilever crane by digging a hole and filling it with concrete. If it is a wall-mounted installation, use appropriate bolts and anchors to attach the jib crane to the wall.

4. Assemble the Jib Crane. Assemble it by attaching the boom and hoist to the cantilever crane's mast.

5. Install the Electrical System. Install the electrical system for the crane, which includes wiring the hoist and boom.

6. Test the Jib Crane. Before putting the cantilever crane to use, test it by performing a load test to ensure that it is operating within safe limits.
