Understanding Customer’s Needs
It is quite difficult to move modular houses since they are usually produced in locations different from the places where they will be eventually mounted. It is possible to simplify this process using a straddle carrier that would help to move the whole module in one piece.
SEVENCRANE has been approached by the end user from Bosnia and Herzegovina who has requested equipment for transporting modular houses. The customer had certain requirements and wanted the equipment to be developed according to the specifics of the load rather than a universal device.
The maximum load weight is 20 tons with the load width not exceeding 5 m and the load length being equal to 12 m. An SC25t straddle carrier with the total lifting capacity of 25 tons and fixed custom spreader has been offered.
The span and lifting height should be according to the provided drawings.
A Fast Quotation with Clear Delivery Expectations
The customer preferred direct communication and paid close attention to both price and delivery time. In particular, the customer made it clear that an accurate delivery commitment was necessary before further discussions could proceed.
Rather than prolonging the process with unnecessary exchanges, we concentrated on confirming the essential specifications. These included the lifting capacity, module dimensions, fixed spreader, Cummins engine, control options, paint color, and shipping method.
After the requirements were clarified, SEVENCRANE submitted the quotation the next day. This gave the customer a prompt basis for evaluating the proposed equipment and project schedule.
For customized machinery, a quotation needs to do more than provide a price. The configuration and delivery period must also be realistic. Customers need to know what they are ordering and when they can expect it. Clear information at this stage helps prevent misunderstandings later in the project.
Equipment Configuration for Oversized Loads
The supplied straddle carrier is designed to handle modular houses up to 20 tons, 5 meters wide, and 12 meters long. Its rated lifting capacity is 25 tons. The fixed spreader will be manufactured to the confirmed dimensions, with the customer's drawings serving as the reference for the required span and lifting height.
The carrier is powered by a Cummins diesel engine and uses four wheels. Operators can choose between remote control and the driver's cabin, depending on the working situation. The control voltage is 48V, and the specified protection rating is IP55.
The requested finish is RAL 3000, and the customer's logo will be applied according to the supplied reference. These details are included in the customized configuration rather than left for later adjustment.
Production and Shipping Arrangements
The order covers one SC25t-5.7m-8.295m straddle carrier, including the fixed spreader and accompanying accessories. The agreed delivery time is 60 days. The equipment will be shipped by sea under CIF Rijeka terms, using two 40-foot open-top containers.
The payment arrangement is 25% T/T in advance and 75% T/T against the draft bill of lading.
Since delivery time was one of the customer's main concerns, keeping the agreed schedule clear was an important part of the project. For customized equipment, production planning, dimensional confirmation, and shipping arrangements all need to be coordinated carefully.
